Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Briefly, operated by Leon Manuel ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the apps you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Briefly.
The service
Briefly lets you play podcast episodes, capture short snippets, generate AI transcripts and summaries of those snippets, and write reflective journal entries linked to them. Features may change over time.
Your account
You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@sayitbriefly.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
Subscriptions and billing
- Free tier. You can listen, snip and journal without paying. AI transcription and summarisation are limited to two episodes per rolling seven-day period.
- Pro. Removes that limit and adds export and cloud sync. Pricing is shown before purchase and may differ by region and currency.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period.
- Cancelling. Purchases made in the iOS app are managed in your Apple ID subscription settings; purchases made in the Android app, in Google Play; and purchases made on the web, in the billing portal in Settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Free trials. Where a trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.
- Refunds. Purchases made through Apple or Google are refunded by them under their own policies; we cannot issue those refunds directly. Web purchases are handled by us in line with Australian Consumer Law.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you create in Briefly: your snippets, journal entries, tags and collections. You grant us only the licence needed to host, process and display that content back to you, including sending audio to our transcription provider so the feature works. If you mark a snippet public, you grant us a licence to display it to others through the sharing feature. That licence ends when you make the snippet private again or delete it.
Podcast content
Briefly plays podcast episodes from publicly available RSS feeds. Podcasts remain the property of their creators. Snippets are for your personal study and reflection. You are responsible for how you use and share them, including respecting the rights of the podcast owner. We are not the publisher of any podcast available through the app.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Break the law or infringe anyone's rights while using Briefly.
- Reverse engineer, scrape or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
- Resell or redistribute AI-generated output as a competing service.
- Attempt to access another user's account or content.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
AI output
Transcripts, summaries and reflection prompts are generated automatically. They can be wrong, incomplete or misleading. Do not rely on them as a substitute for listening to the source, and never as professional, medical, legal or financial advice.
Availability
We aim to keep Briefly running but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Features may be changed or withdrawn. We will give reasonable notice before withdrawing a feature that Pro subscribers pay for.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded. Subject to that, Briefly is provided "as is", and our total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, or from sayitbriefly.com/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
